U.S. Customs ("CBP") Voiding Importers of Record Numbers

Please be informed that U.S. Customs ("CBP") has begun voiding Importer of Record numbers (US Social Security Numbers ) that they deem to be inactive.

U.S Customs considers an Importer of Record Number (US Social Security Numbers) that has not been used in over one year and does not have any pending Customs transactions associated with it, to be inactive and thus voided.

Customers that do not import on a regular basis may be particularly susceptible to having their U.S. Social Security Numbers voided and are advised to review their information prior to export from country of origin. Currently, the process takes between 8 to 10 business days to reactivate a (US Social Security Number) resulting in expensive port storage and detention charges. To avoid delays and port storage, we do require valid U.S. Social Security Numbers of all U.S. residents to be provided to us at time of PREALERT on our ISF Form.
